Coach's Corner

Hey it truly is a great day to be a Bulldog! Two Colors, One Voice! The academic year is quickly approaching its end, and for our student-athletes the seasons are right around the corner. We have some to get done now, I know its seems cliche, but many of our games will be won or lost with what we get done the remaining part of the spring and into the summer both on the field, and in the weightroom...and lets not forget the student piece of that puzzle. I am hard pressed to allow a football player to continue playing behind more that one credit. If players are not willing to get things done in the classroom, then it leaves little room for our #1 goal and that to graduate high school. I have some celebrations to share with you moving forward. The BGHS Football Booster along with John Santisi put on a fantastic event, that raised close to $3000. That's the kind of events the Barry Goldwater Community should come to expect. We have also completed the HUDL Campaign, those players who did not get their 10 addresses into their HUDL account will have to pay the piper, but we nearly accomplished our goal of raising $5000, falling just short at $4555. The HUDL account is paid in full another year, including the JV and we will be purchasing the second camera, paying for passing league tournaments this summer (which includes a trip to NAU on the 13th of June) and the End Zone Camera is a done deal.

The camp fees and summer conditioning program monies are getting slowly taken care. Player are doing a great job getting those turned. The count down has begun and there are 39 spots of 48 remaining for the Bulldog Summer Football camp; Remember $100 holds your spot, and the summer program has 43 remaining of 48.

Some schedule and section news...The Prescott and Bradshaw teams swapped in their appeals with Cactus Shadows and Notre Dame Prep so the varsity schedule looks like this:

v. Thunderbird - Home Opener

@ Sierra Linda

@ Buckeye

v. Flagstaff

@ Coconino

v. North Canyon - Homecoming

@ Cactus Shadows

v. Notre Dame Prep

@ Paradise Valley

v. Shadow Mtn - Senior Night

A very competitive schedule for our young Bulldogs, but this coaching staff is up for the task.

I am asking all parents to make arrangements to attend the MANDATORY PARENT MEETING on Tuesday April 21st @ 6:30 in 100 Lecture Hall on the BGHS Campus. This meeting is for you the parents, and not your sons...

Spring Football will be starting up on May 4th and run through May 22nd. I sent home an athletic packet the 15-16 school year. Please get those documents turned into Mrs. Cooley in Athletics as soon as possible. Paperwork is continues to be the devil for me. Parents, when (and I add if) your son brings home documents requiring your signature, please as a favor to me, get those signed and return to me as quickly as possible. Many of those forms are for the sole purpose of ordering various items, including the two t-shirts, shorts, and compression shirts, they receive when they get to camp.

Remember we only have 1 real fundraiser left, beside the tax credit. Your sons are selling the multi-vendor card during spring football. The proceeds will help pay for the dipping of the face masks in the Goldwater yellow...and if your son asks for a drill he really is coming in Saturday to pull those face masks of the 100 helmets we have to take off to send them to California.

I know I am forgetting something, but I will check in with you soon. Being a Barry Goldwater Bulldog is a privilege not a right. This coaching staff is getting really excited about getting the players focused and busy in 2015, we have lots of work to do.

Thanks!

Go Dogs!!!
